In 1974, Captain Craig began fishing in the waters of Key West. Just a few short years later, in 1980 he decided to make the move to Key West, full-time, in order to devote his career, to the fulfilling occupation of being Charter Captain and fishing guide. He\'s been working actively in Key West for over twenty years now and in that time he has had a chance to work with the best Captains, mates, and crews in the area.
June of 1984 marked the year Captain Craig went into business. This was the year he handled charters on his first boat, The Grand Slam. Today, Captain Craig is using his third boat, The Ultra Grand Slam. The goal is to continuously renew his resources in order to provide the best and most fulfilling charter available to people visiting the Key West area.
When taking a tour with Captain Craig you can expect professionalism and experience. Between Captain Craig and his mate there is over 43 years of experience. This is just for the time the two have spent fishing in Key West waters and not total fishing time for either individual! You will not have to worry about your Captain being inexperienced on this charter. If anything, this crew is one of the most experienced in Key West.
This team works well together, which is important. The first mate will handle all of the important fishing preparations while Captain Craig leads you to the fish. The job of the first mate will be to handle baiting hooks and once you begin catching fish, the first mate will be there to help bring your catches in over the side of the boat.
Both Captain Craig and his first mate love building relationships with clients that continue to return to him for years. While anyone can provide a boat to fish on, Captain Craig provides a friendly and welcoming environment that makes you feel like you are welcome at any time. Additionally, if you prefer to mount your catches, you will be pleased to know that Captain Craig is authorized to be a representative for Gray Taxidermy, which means mounting without hassles!
The Ultra Grand Slam is Captain Craig\'s 47 foot fishing vessel. This fierce boat comes equipped with a 16\' beam, twin diesel engine, two bathrooms and staterooms, and a fully air conditioned salon area. The Ultra Grand Slam was designed to provide an all-around excellent trip. Captain Craig wanted a boat that was comfortable for all moments of the trip and not just the ones spent fishing, the Ultra Grand Slam was the answer he was looking for.
This boat is so comfortable it is not uncommon for fishing enthusiasts to bring their families to enjoy the sun, water, and environment of the Ultra Grand Slam while they fish. Comfort is guaranteed on this fabulous boat from the moment you leave port until you come home, safe and sound.
A high quality stereo and fish finding equipment is available on board to provide entertainment and to ensure that guests have the best shot of catching the fish they want to find. If you are not interested in fishing you can look over the bridge and into the water. From this view, on occasion, you will be able to see the living coral reef, sea turtles, and porpoises.
Captain Craig\'s Charter excursions truly provide you with the best of everything. Penn International and Shimano tackle are used and provided for fishing trips, free of charge. However, one of the best things about Captain Craig is that he comes fully prepared for any type of problems you may encounter.
If you notice bad weather approaching on the day of your trip, you will not need to worry. He knows these waters and he knows what to do in the event of an emergency. You can rest assured you will remain safe when you are with him on The Ultra Grand Slam. Of course, Captain Craig also has alternative plans that will lead you to more sheltered waters where you can hunt barracuda or shark!
