Tips for Key West

Here are some of the best sites for snorkeling in Key West:

The Lakes – This is a great area for all level of snorkeler.  It is a shallow area with grassy flats and sandy banks surrounding a shallow lagoon.  This presents the opportunity to see a variety of fish swimming about.

Sand Key – A popular snorkeling and diving spot, the shallow areas of Sand Key feature coral and shells where you might spot schools of small and colorful fish.

Key West Marine Park – This protected area is located on the south shore of Key West.  Just off shore, there are incredible opportunities for snorkeling, and you can explore the wildlife refuge while you are there!

Snorkeling around Key West is definitely a can’t-miss activity.  The experience is truly unforgettable, with the clear blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico providing a beautiful backdrop for all kinds of tropical plants and fish.  Snorkeling is a peaceful and relaxing activity that you will want to experience again and again!  And make sure you bring your underwater camera!
